The Project
A comprehensive renovation of the San Baudelio de Berlanga Museum that radically transforms the way the story of the hermitage and its paintings is told.
The existing center has been completely renovated: new spaces, new decor, new furnishings and, above all, a new narrative. We reimagined what a cultural visit should be, moving away from the traditional model of static panels to create something alive, something that responds to your presence and guides you the way a narrator who knows every corner of this thousand-year-old history would.
This is not a museum where you read. It's a place where you listen, where light shows you the way and images come to life at exactly the right moment.
A Different Narrative
At the heart of this design is the creation of a completely new interpretive narrative. This isn't about converting text to audio: we've built an original narration that changes the way information is typically presented in museums.
Visitors don't read panels or consult brochures. A voice accompanies them, guides them, tells them the story of the hermitage, of the Mozarabs who built it, of the paintings that traveled to America and of those that still watch over these walls. As if an expert was guiding you throughout.
All content has also been professionally translated into multiple languages, ensuring that visitors from abroad can experience the visit in full.
Invisible Technology
Smart Lighting
Light fixtures and luminous signals are synchronized with the visit. Light doesn't just illuminate: it guides, signals and follows the rhythm of the narration, creating a visual choreography that directs attention without the visitor being aware of it.
High-Quality Projections
Professional-grade projection equipment that displays the original paintings in exceptional resolution, virtually recreating the splendor of the Romanesque mural ensemble now scattered across museums on three continents.
No expense was spared on image quality. State-of-the-art projectors and screens, well above the usual standard for this type of space.
Multi-Zone Audio
A directional audio system that creates distinct sound zones, guiding visitors through the narration without sound from one space interfering with the next.
Automated System
The entire installation is managed autonomously, detecting visitors' presence and activating content at the right moment. The center operates without the need for permanent staff.
Anonymous Statistics
A digital visual detection system that generates real-time statistics on foot traffic and movement flow, all while fully respecting visitor privacy. No facial recognition, no personal data stored.
Energy Efficiency
The entire system is designed on an on-demand operating principle.
Projectors, speakers and screens are only activated at the precise moment content needs to be delivered. When there are no visitors, the center switches to low-power mode. When someone arrives, it comes to life.
The installation is managed using state-of-the-art, ultra-low-power computing equipment, very different from the traditional servers usually used in this type of installation — cutting-edge technology in the service of sustainability and operational efficiency.
Design and Production
Signage and Panels
Comprehensive design of all interpretive signage with exceptionally high-quality printing. Large-format panels where every detail has been meticulously crafted and holds up even under close inspection.
Printed at over 250 dpi on panels up to 3 meters long by 1.6 meters high — a level of production quality not usually found in museum signage.
Custom Furnishings
Creation of benches, light fixtures, an interactive information kiosk, and technical furniture for projectors. Each piece, specifically designed and crafted for this space, integrating with the architecture and atmosphere of the center.
Comprehensive Decor
Complete renovation of all spaces: painting, finishes and ambiance. An intervention that transforms the perception of the center from the moment you walk through the door.
Animated Content and Apps
Production of animations and audiovisual content that bring historical scenes to life, along with interactive applications that complement the visit experience.
